It was Sunday and (again) I wanted to treat my mom to a healthy lunch. Earlier that day, I was browsing the internet trying to look for an interesting place to dine. Then I found another farm-to-table restaurant located in Makati called “Satinka Naturals.” I read a few blogs about the place and learned that it is owned by people from Kalinga, Satinka and Shaller. Most (if not all) of their ingredients are sourced from the northern region. The owners wanted to offer healthy-and-organically-grown-but-affordable-food-options thus the birth of Satinka
Right after the church service, we went straight to Makati. With the help of Mr. Waze, we were able to reach the restaurant in less than 20 minutes from Pasig City. I was hoping to score a seat at the their second floor (that’s the best spot for pictures!) unfortunately, it was fully occupied (which was surprising considering it was a Sunday and it was only 11:30 AM). We’re still lucky as there was a vacant spot at the ground floor (we can’t wait any longer as we were really very hungry). As soon as we settled down on our seats, we asked for the menu and placed our order. While waiting, my mom checked out some of the “beauty” products being sold there as well. The products vary from lotion, body soap, essential oils etc which are homemade and as natural as it can be. My boyfriend and I, on one hand, took some pictures (selfies included). After about 15 minutes (hooray) our orders finally came.
On the Table
Bacon Carbonara Pasta (Php 188.00) Grass fed bacon in creamy buttery sauce served with organic garden salad.
There’s really nothing special about their Carbonara. It’s less creamy and lacks flavour which, perhaps, makes it a “healthier” option. It’s definitely not the carbonara I have expected. We finished it anyway.
Chicken Honey Mustard (Php 238.00) Breaded butterfly cut chicken fillet in honey mustard sauce slow cooked with light cream, raw wild honey and white wine and Parmesan cheese served with red mountain rice with organic garden salad as side
What I love about this dish is it’s served with red mountain rice. The chicken however also lacks flavour too (maybe it’s just me because I love flavourful food). I honestly did not taste any “honey and white wine.” I was actually expected it to be a bit sweeter and a lot creamier.
Greek Platter (Php 289.00) Truly Mediterranean taste of Greece. Chicken strips marinated in Herb Medley of oregano, smoked paprika, caraway seed powder in cold pressed olive oil tossed with white onion rings, side of spice mint beef 100% lean grass fed ground beef with mustard – slow cooked in fresh tomato sauce topped with feta cheese and black olives
Ah! This has been the best dish I’ve tried! Finally scored a dish with full and strong flavour. I loved the combination of tomato sauce, cheese and spices. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the beef was fresh (you can definitely tell), tender and very juicy. I love the yogurt dip too!
Super Food It (Php 180.00) and Chlorophyll (Php 165.00) – Make a guess, which one is Chlorophyll? (LOL). We don’t normally order drinks unless we see Coconut Juice or Fresh Lemonade in the menu. But since it’s our first time here, we decided to give it a try. Well, I like the Super Food It better than the Chlorophyll as it tasted like the usual fruit shake (sweet and a bit tangy). Chlorophyll, on one hand, tasted super organic – you can tell, it’s more of greens and less fruits.
I’d give the restaurant a 8/10 – strong points would be, of course, being able to serve organic dishes at a very reasonable price and the restaurant’s the ambiance (very rustic and homey). I just think they need to improve their service a bit more. The staffs need to be more attentive and customer-oriented. But overall, I loved the place and would definitely be back
Til’ our next food adventure ❤
